Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms which has sp2 hybridization to form a two-dimensional hexagonal structure. Graphene has truly wide range of applications, mean-while its availability is still barrier. Reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) usually considered as one type of graphene that still maintains good mechanical and optoelectronic properties. The aim of this study is to synthesize rGO based on coconut shell charcoal by using the modified Hummer method. The synthesis was conducted by utilizing coconut shell charcoal with particle size of ∼75 µm and oxidation time of 7 hours. To obtain rGO, GO was reduced by sonication process and followed by chemical reduction method using Zn as reductant. The rGO materials were chraracterized by using FTIR, XRD and SEM to learn the structure and properties of rGO. The XRD results show that the rGO phase has formed in the sample, and several oxygen functional groups have been reduced in the sample as indicated by the FTIR test. Meanwhile, the morphology of the sample characterized by using SEM shows the similar pore structure of sample with same pore distribution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
