Abstrakt: This article discusses the use of vacuum-stent treatment for transmural defects in the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract, such as anastomotic leaks, Boerhaave syndrome, and iatrogenic defects. The study describes the experiences and lessons learned by a tertiary referral center with vacuum-stent treatment since 2018. The success rates of vacuum-stent treatment for these defects ranged from 78% to 83%. However, caution is recommended for treating cervical anastomotic leaks due to the narrow lumen of the proximal esophagus and the high risk of severe strictures. The authors emphasize the importance of sharing experiences to assess the best techniques and indications for vacuum-stent treatment. [Extracted from the article]
