Abstrakt: This article discusses the feasibility, efficacy, and safety of intraductal radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as a treatment method for patients with inoperable perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (pCCA). The study conducted a randomized clinical trial at a therapeutic endoscopy center, comparing patients who received biliary plastic stenting alone to those who received stenting plus RFA. The primary outcome was effective drainage at 4 weeks, and secondary outcomes included overall survival and safety. The interim analysis included 25 patients, and while the RFA treatment was found to be feasible and effective in palliating biliary obstruction, there were frequent and serious adverse events related to biliary infection. Further research is needed before widespread adoption of intraductal RFA can be recommended. [Extracted from the article]
