Researchers at the Federal University of Ceara in Brazil have developed a vaginal cream containing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and miconazole to treat Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (VVC) and Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (RVVC). The AgNPs were synthesized using glucose and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and were found to have antimicrobial activity against Candida parapsilosis strains. When combined with miconazole, the AgNPs showed significant antifungal activity. The cream developed in this study demonstrated larger inhibition zones compared to commercially available medication.
