Abstrakt: Researchers at Delaware State University have developed a method to identify protein-protein interactions (PPIs) that could be used in the discovery of protein therapeutics. The method involves linking PPI-dependent beta-lactamase recruitment on the surface of Escherichia coli with resistance to ampicillin. Bacteria that recruit beta-lactamase to the cell surface are protected from ampicillin-dependent cell death, while those that do not recruit beta-lactamase are killed by ampicillin. The researchers believe that this selection method will be a valuable tool for studying and understanding PPIs. [Extracted from the article]
