Researchers at the National Nuclear Laboratory have developed an ultrasonic imaging system for molten lead, a technology that has not been previously demonstrated in the open literature. The study outlines the development of the device and presents results from testing at 380 °C in lead. The researchers successfully detected and imaged differently shaped targets using 2D and 3D ultrasonic imaging. This research provides valuable insights into the challenges and possibilities of using ultrasonic imaging in harsh environments such as molten lead. [Extracted from the article] |
