A recent qualitative study conducted at Maastricht University in the Netherlands explored the factors influencing adherence to insulin and blood glucose monitoring among adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes in Qatar. The study found that suboptimal adherence to insulin and blood glucose monitoring was common among participants, with some lacking awareness of the consequences of their actions. Participants also reported various disadvantages to adherence and low self-efficacy in being adherent. The study concluded that interventions are needed to increase awareness, motivation, support, and self-efficacy among this population. [Extracted from the article] |
