Abstrakt: | A recent report from researchers at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat Munchen explores the topic of congenital prosopagnosia (CP), a condition characterized by an innate impairment in face perception. The study investigates whether holistic processing of faces is disrupted in individuals with CP. Using binocular rivalry as a measure of face perception, the researchers found that individuals with CP rely more on local features of faces and process emotions in faces automatically. The study suggests that holistic face processing is less relevant in CP. The research concludes that binocular rivalry is a useful test for assessing visual processing in individuals with neurological conditions. [Extracted from the article] |
