Abstrakt: The paper presents the life and work of the important Czech philosopher of evangelical orientation Božena Komárková. Božena Komárková's life passed through a large part of the twentieth century. As a young girl, she experienced the euphoria of the end of the World War I associated with the negation not only of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, but also of the Catholic religion, which was associated with life in the monarchy. During her studies at the Masaryk University Brno, she began to sympathize with the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren and became significantly involved in the Academic YMCA. During the World War II, she was imprisoned for her participation in the Second Resistance. After the end of the war, she started teaching at the State Gymnasium in the Legionaries Street n°14 in Brno. After February 1948, she was expelled from all teaching and public functions. She was first granted disability and later old-age pension. During this time, she devoted herself to writing philosophical, Christian-oriented texts and organizing home seminars in her flat in Pekařská Street in Brno. Her works were widely published in samizdat. The most important topic that she devoted herself to throughout her life was the origin and meaning of human rights. She advocated for them not only on a theoretical level, but also practically by the example of her own life. That is why she signed the Declaration of Charter 77 in December 1976. From a religious point of view, she joined the New Orientation movement within the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren. Politically, she leaned towards socialism. She belonged to the moral authorities of the Brno dissent. After 1989, she received several important awards. She died in 1997. In the article, I present the life and work of Božena Komárková in the light of documents that are stored in the Department of the History of Antitotalitarian Culture in the Moravian Museum. Therefore, the aim of the article is, in addition to describing the life and work of this philosopher, also to get acquainted with the structure of her fund in the collections of the Moravian Museum.
