Abstrakt: A clinical trial is being conducted in Dhaka, Bangladesh to investigate the effectiveness of microbiota-directed food (MDF) in improving the health of children with moderate acute malnutrition (MAM). MAM is a significant public health concern that can negatively impact child growth and development. The trial will compare the effects of MDF with the standard ready-to-use supplementary food (RUSF) on growth, microbial recovery, and proteomic recovery in children with MAM. The study will collect data on various factors including demographics, nutritional status, early childhood development, and biomarkers of gut inflammation and microbiota composition. The study is expected to be completed by February 2026 and is being conducted by the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh in collaboration with Washington University School of Medicine.
