A recent study conducted by researchers at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) examined the ability of corneal specialists to differentiate between bacterial and fungal keratitis based on corneal photography. The study found that local cornea experts in India performed better than international experts, regardless of regional variations in risk factors for fungal keratitis. The researchers suggest that this may be due to the familiarity of local specialists with the regional characteristics of infectious ulcers. The study highlights the importance of considering locality when assessing expert performance in image-based differentiation of corneal ulcers. [Extracted from the article] |
