This paper evaluates the durability of geotextiles exposed to accumulated weathering and liquid factors. Polypropylene and polyester/polyamide woven geotextiles (GTXw) were applied in this study. Weathering tests were performed in a chamber (UVA lamps), and the geotextiles were immersed in acidic and alkaline liquids to evaluate their chemical degradation. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Infrared (IR) spectroscopy were carried out to understand the photodegradation results. In the analysis of the accumulation of degradation factors, tensile strength-strain losses were verified under all conditions considered. The polyester/polyamide geotextile presented a tensile strength loss of 77.2% in the weathering test (first stage) and in acidic liquid (second stage). In the alkaline liquid (second stage), the loss was 43.9%. The degradation conditions depended on the geotextiles' structures and polymeric compositions. The application of the partial Reduction Factors (RFP) closest to the project requirements is essential to the reliability of different geotechnical and civil applications to mitigate environmental impacts.
