A new study on Parkinson's disease conducted by researchers at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine has been reported. The study focuses on the role of a-synuclein, a protein associated with the development of Parkinson's disease. The researchers found that the accumulation of a-synuclein disrupts various steps in the proteostasis pathway, which is involved in protein transport and clearance within cells. The study suggests that targeting multiple pathways simultaneously may be more effective in developing disease-modifying therapies for Parkinson's disease and other synucleinopathies.
