This article presents the findings of a cross-sectional study conducted in Tamil Nadu, India, which aimed to evaluate the economic burden of migraine on patients attending a tertiary care hospital. The study found that migraine therapy incurred significant direct and indirect costs, with a substantial amount spent on medications and special investigations. Female patients experienced a greater loss of wages compared to males. The study concludes that there is a need for better alternatives to reduce the economic burden on patients. However, it is important to note that the study had limitations, including a small sample size and short duration. [Extracted from the article] |
