Researchers from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in Ukraine have conducted a study on the impact of heterologous regulatory genes on the production of antibiotics. Specifically, they focused on the StrR-like pathway-specific transcriptional regulators (PSRs) found in different biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) for antibiotics. Through their analysis, they discovered that some StrR-like PSRs can influence the biosynthesis of other antibiotic pathways, leading to improved antibiotic production. This research suggests that these PSRs could be utilized as tools to activate silent BGCs regulated by StrR-like PSRs. [Extracted from the article] |
