A recent study conducted at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania aimed to evaluate the use of the German Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection Type A (GERAADA) score in predicting 30-day mortality in patients with acute type A aortic dissection. The study included 685 patients who underwent surgery for this condition, with a 30-day mortality rate of 12.0%. The GERAADA score demonstrated good discrimination power in predicting mortality risk, although it tended to overestimate the risk. The researchers concluded that acute type A aortic dissection is a serious condition requiring immediate open-heart surgery. [Extracted from the article] |
