A recent study conducted by researchers at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) explored the geographical distribution of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cases in Greater Mexico City (GMC). The study found evidence of spatial clustering of ALL cases in certain regions of GMC, suggesting a possible role of environmental factors in the development of childhood ALL. The researchers used geolocation data and Kulldorff's spatial scan statistic to detect these clusters. Additionally, the study observed a proximity between the clusters, electrical installations, and petrochemical facilities. This research provides valuable insights into the potential environmental factors contributing to childhood ALL in GMC. [Extracted from the article] |
