A report from the University of the Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan explores the reasons for defaulting from childhood immunization in district Swat. The study used a qualitative phenomenological approach and conducted 36 in-depth interviews with participants who had defaulter children. The findings revealed six themes, including illness of the child, perceived side effects of vaccination, factors related to caregivers, myths and misconceptions, vaccinator attitudes and crowded vaccination centers, as well as poor immunization service arrangements. The study concludes that addressing caregivers' concerns may increase the vaccination completion rate. [Extracted from the article] |
