Abstrakt: This article presents a case report of a 58-year-old woman with a severe form of comedonic lupus (CL) that was resistant to standard therapies. The patient had been using anticonvulsant medications, sodium valproate and carbamazepine, for refractory epilepsy. The lesions on her face, scalp, and ears were associated with the use of these medications. Laboratory findings and histopathological analysis supported the diagnosis of CL. Treatment with hydroxychloroquine and prednisone initially showed limited response, but switching to acitretin and adapalene gel resulted in modest improvement. Notably, the discontinuation of carbamazepine and reintroduction of hydroxychloroquine, along with the introduction of levetiracetam, led to a reduction in inflammation and improvement in symptoms. The article highlights the potential association between carbamazepine and CL and emphasizes the need for further research in this area. [Extracted from the article]
