A new report from the University of Naples in Italy explores the association between frailty and cystic fibrosis (CF) in adults. The study assessed the clinical and anamnestic characteristics of CF patients and evaluated the relationship between frailty and CF genotyping classification. The study found that CF patients, particularly those who were pre-frail or frail, exhibited similarities to older adults with frailty syndrome. This suggests that CF may be considered an early expression of frailty syndrome and highlights the potential usefulness of employing tools used in the management and therapy of frailty to identify more severe CF cases.
