Phillips 66 has temporarily suspended the evaluation of its unleaded avgas alternative after a major test failure. The fuel, developed in partnership with Afton Chemicals through the Piston Engine Aviation Fuels Initiative, was being tested for durability when issues arose, potentially related to manganese deposits. This pause leaves three other contenders in the evaluation process for unleaded avgas, including LyondellBasell/VP Racing Fuels, Swift Fuels, and General Aviation Modifications Inc. The latter has already received approval for its G100UL fuel, while the others are still seeking authorization. [Extracted from the article] |
