The article discusses the honeycomb sign in melioidosis, a multisystem infectious disease caused by the bacterium Burkholderia pseudomallei. The honeycomb sign refers to the appearance of multiseptated multiloculated hepatic abscesses, which are divided into multiple small loculations, giving them a honeycomb-like appearance. This sign can be helpful in diagnosing melioidosis, especially in endemic areas or in individuals with a travel history to endemic regions. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial due to the high mortality rate associated with melioidosis. [Extracted from the article] |
