Synthesis of nanocrystalline doped SnO2: Structural study and antibacterial efficacy.

Abstrakt: We report the synthesis of boron and silver doped tin oxide by using sol-gel method. Their structural and morphological properties have been investigated by using X-ray powder diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Rietveld analysis demonstrate the formation of a rutile structure of doped SnO2 nanocrystallites with anisotropic microstructure having particle size in between 25-35 nm along different crystallographic directions and presence of different amount of oxygen vacancies for both the doped samples. The prepared samples showed dissimilar anti-bacterial efficacy against some Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative bacteria. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
