Abstrakt: Researchers at the University of North Carolina have initiated the Latin American Trans-ancestry Initiative for OCD Genomics (LATINO) to address the Eurocentric bias in genomic studies of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The study aims to collect DNA and clinical data from 5,000 OCD cases of Latin American ancestry in order to identify OCD risk loci, improve treatment outcomes, and examine the genetics of treatment response and symptom dimensions. LATINO also seeks to promote cultural sensitivity and diversity in the study of OCD through collaborations with Latin American investigators. The researchers believe that this study will contribute to global mental health discovery and equity. [Extracted from the article]
