This document is a summary of a themed issue in honor of Professor Vicente Rives, who had a long and successful career as a teacher and researcher in Inorganic Chemistry and Materials Chemistry. The issue includes eighteen contributions, consisting of six review papers and twelve research papers. The papers cover a range of topics, including layered double hydroxides, metal oxides, clay minerals, catalysis and photocatalysis, thermal analysis, and cultural heritage conservation. The contributions come from researchers who have collaborated with Prof. Rives as well as those who have not. The papers explore various materials and their applications, such as Ni-based catalysts, g-C3N4, mesoporous silica, MOFs, carbons, AlPO4, acid-modified clays, and porous aluminosilicates.
