A new report discusses research findings on hypertension, specifically on apparent treatment-resistant hypertension (aTRH). The study conducted single-variant and gene-based analyses of aTRH using whole-genome sequencing data from individuals in the Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine program. The researchers identified a variant in the KCNK3 gene that was associated with a decreased risk of aTRH in the normotensive control group. Additionally, several genes were found to have aggregate gene-based signals related to aTRH. Further research is needed to validate these findings in larger and more diverse populations.
