Abstrakt: A systematic review conducted by investigators at Yale University provides a comprehensive summary of the literature on inferior vena cava (IVC) atresia, a rare venous anomaly characterized by the absence of the IVC. The review analyzed 376 patients with IVC atresia and found that males are more affected than females, but females are more likely to have congenital IVC atresia. Most patients presented with deep vein thrombosis (DVT), with leg pain and swelling being the most common symptoms. The study also discussed the treatment options, including medical and surgical interventions, with acceptable mid-term results in terms of patency and symptomatic relief. [Extracted from the article]
