Researchers from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund, Germany have developed a method to integrate patient data from electronic health records (EHRs) into BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) models, allowing for personalized decision support in the treatment of malignant melanoma. By combining evidence-based treatment guidance with real EHR data, the method identifies the next necessary decision point in a specific patient context and displays it to the physician. This research addresses the challenge of presenting the right data in the context of decision support at the point of care, as digital patient data continues to increase.
