Analysis of Suppression Conditions of Fe40Ni40P14B6 Melt Crystallization.

Abstrakt: The critical cooling rates, required for suppressing the crystallization of Fe40Ni40P14B6 melt, were estimated in the frames of the classical crystallization theory (homogeneous nucleation, linear isotropic growth, and kinetics according to the Johnson–Mehl–Avrami–Kolmogorov model). Estimations were made using the calculated time–temperature–transformation isothermal diagrams as well as the Kolmogorov integral equation, written for the case of continuous cooling. Temperature dependences of crystal nucleation and growth rates were calculated using both thermodynamic and kinetic parameters, governing the formation of crystals in the amorphous phase, as well as by the three-parameter temperature-dependent diffusion coefficient, proposed in this work. The critical cooling rates for various equation combinations, describing crystal nucleation and growth, critical cooling rates have been determined, and the conditions for correct prediction of the Fe40Ni40P14B6 melt tendency to amorphization have been established.
