Abstrakt: Dan Brown published five novels whose protagonist is Professor Robert Langdon. The novels, which belong to the mystery thriller genre and whose constant theme is conspiracies, are: Angels & Demons (2000), The Da Vinci Code (2003), The Lost Symbol (2009), Inferno (2013), and Origin (2017). Three of these books--The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels & Demons (2009), and Inferno (2016)--have been adapted into motion pictures by director Ron Howard. In 2022, Amazon Prime released a 10-episode mini-series based on The Lost Symbol. Widely popular and commonly considered a beach read, Dan Brown's novels, as well as their adaptations, fit in the frames of, postulated by Robert Jewett and John Shelton Lawrence, the American monomyth. This article demonstrates how the American monomyth manifests itself in Dan Brown's novels and their adaptations, and what psychically resonant themes can be found in the seemingly trivial and farfetched adventures of Robert Langdon.
