The daily diet of most people of south-western Nigeria has been observed to lack the necessary balanced diet, and has high incidence of breakfast skipping. The objective of this study is to establish the daily diet patterns and health status in south-western Nigeria. The study utilised the primary survey method. Copies of a structured questionnaire were used to collect data with a sample size of 1473 of farming households from south-western Nigeria. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression model technique were used to analyse the data. The study results showed that the household food expenditures Foodexp, increases the probability of the health status of the household being improved by 1.723 times. The variable Ownproduce indicated that an odd increase in the households own food production improves the probability of the status of the household being increased by .055 times. The variable Mealsperday suggested that an odd decrease in the households' number of meals per day decreases the probability of the health status of the households being improved by 0.123 times. The study suggested that there should be policies that include direct assistance to households, particularly female-headed households, towards achieving self-sufficiency in food and other crop production.
