A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Greenland aimed to explore the prevalence and clinical features of heart failure (HF) in Greenland. The study used data from the national medical record and included 507 patients with a diagnosis of HF. The overall prevalence of HF in Greenland was found to be 1.1%, with higher rates among men compared to women. The study also revealed that more than half of the patients were obese and/or smokers, and a low prevalence of ischaemic heart disease (IHD) was observed. These findings suggest that factors other than IHD may contribute to the development of HF among Greenlanders. [Extracted from the article] |
