A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Kochi in Japan highlights the challenges faced by migrants in accessing healthcare due to language barriers, lack of information, and shortage of interpreters. The study presents recommendations from Nepali migrants themselves on how to improve healthcare access during disasters, emergencies, or crises in Japan. These recommendations include mobilizing Nepali healthcare professionals, establishing a disaster information center by the embassy, providing Nepali hotline services, implementing telehealth services, and promoting mutual help. The researchers emphasize the need for further research to determine the most effective strategies for enhancing healthcare access for migrants in Japan during such situations.
