A report from State University Londrina in Brazil discusses research on the inhibition of urease, an enzyme involved in various biological processes. The researchers designed and synthesized ten coumarin derivatives and tested their inhibitory effects on urease. The compounds showed potential inhibitory activity, with two derivatives (2b and 2d) being the most effective. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations revealed that these compounds interact with a crucial residue in the urease enzyme, blocking the access of the substrate to the active site. The study provides insights into the development of potential urease inhibitors. [Extracted from the article] |
