Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Tokyo examined changes in corneal endothelial cell density (CECD) in Japanese patients with open-angle glaucoma (OAG) who underwent Ex-PRESS surgery. The study found that CECD decreased over a 36-month period, with a decrease rate of 1.8% per year. A low preoperative CECD was identified as a significant risk factor for CECD loss. However, the researchers noted that longer-term follow-up and regular CECD measurements are necessary, particularly for patients with low CECD. This research provides valuable insights into the effects of Ex-PRESS surgery on CECD in OAG patients. [Extracted from the article]
