A recent study conducted at Vishnu Dental College in Bhimavaram, India, compared the efficacy of different irrigation methods in removing the smear layer from root canal walls. The study found that passive microvolume irrigation with 3% and 5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) showed comparable efficacy to standard irrigation with 3% NaOCl in the middle and apical thirds of the root canal. However, the 5% NaOCl irrigation method showed significantly higher efficiency in smear layer removal at the cervical third of the root canal. This research provides valuable insights into root canal disinfection techniques. [Extracted from the article] |
