The article address the legal and medical challenges concerning individuals with both intellectual disabilities (ID) and substance abuse issues who become involved in capital sentencing proceedings. It highlights the misinterpretation of diagnostic criteria for ID in the legal context. It also references recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions that stress the need for legal assessments of ID to align with contemporary medical standards. |
