The article deals with such problems as a career identity among the youth, involving, and encouragement of high school students to take part in practice-oriented, project-based, research, and research-based activities. The paper describes the experience of workshops held using the electronic construction set called "Expert in 999 Circuits". Due to the workshops, the school students receive advanced knowledge in subjects of general education, using the interdisciplinary approach, and develop skills to solve tasks with circuit breakers that students themselves might design and build, using the opportunity to check the findings of analytical calculations by experiment. The workshop has contributed to acquiring broadened and deepened knowledge in physics among students, learning operating principles of electrical and semiconductor devices and their applications, as well as operating principles and the specifics of circuit schematic capture and computation.
