Abstrakt: For Hörcher, although analytic philosophy formed the foundation of Scruton's philosophical education at Cambridge University, unlike many other analytic philosophers, Scruton saw merit in Continental philosophy. Hörcher brings many of Scruton's ideas together in an exegesis of his critiques of architectural modernism, with its prioritizing of the collectivist utopianism over individual taste, style, and the community. In I The Meaning i , Hörcher argues that Scruton's emphasis on dogmatics rather than philosophy is an attempt "to keep his theory of conservative politics as close to the political practice of conservatism as possible.".
