Abstrakt: The article examines some fundamentals of emotional growth in children. It is important for the pediatrician to have a clear awareness of the various emotional phases through which children proceed as they develop normally. The individual child's personality is formed through a gradual process of passing through a series of phases. The developmental phases of our personality are infancy, preschool, kindergarten, grade school years, adolescence and adulthood. The parts of the mind is reviewed as a system of functions which develop in a complementary way. In mentally healthy individuals, these three functional systems mesh harmoniously. The needs and instincts are usually satisfied when appropriate and sometimes suppressed by the ego.
