Optimization of machining parameters in turning of inconel 600 with coated tools under dry conditions.

Abstrakt: Inconel 600 has good properties like Resistance to High Temperature and corrosion. This paper is mainly focused on the investigation of cutting parameters on turning performance characteristics. Feed, Speed and Back Rake Angle were considered as machining parameters while Material Removal Rate and Surface Roughness were taken as performance characteristics. Experiments were based on design of experiments-Taguchi L9 orthogonal array. The results from the studies indicate that sequence of Cutting speed of 300 m/min, Feed rate of 0.05 mm/rev and Rake angle of -3° was found to achieve minimum surface roughness whereas highest Material removal rate was obtained with a sequence of Cutting speed of 300 m/min, Feed rate of 0.15 mm/rev and Rake angle of -7°. Results from Analysis of variance indicate that feed rate has maximum influence on both Ra and MRR with 42.78% and 73.02 % contribution respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
