Abstrakt: This research examines the viscosity of a mixture of graphite powder and thermoplastic that will be used as feed material in the injection molding process to produce a conductive composite plate. The behavior of the feed material which often refers to its rheological properties is one of the factors to ensure the success of the injection molding process. Two types of thermoplastics (polypropylene, PP and polyethylene, PE) are used as binders and mixed with various sized of graphite powder, to produce composite materials of various compositions. Composite of the respective sizes and compositions were mixed uniformly using a twin screw extrusion equipment. Rheological testing performed on the mixed material using capillary rheometer. The results showed that the viscosity of the material increased with the increase in the amount of graphite powder in the mixture. The viscosity of the mixture also appears to decrease with increasing temperature and pressure. The effect of powder particle size did not show a significant influence on the viscosity of the mixture material. This study is an initial reference in the research of feed materials on injection molding process to produce a conductive composite for bipolar plate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
