The article focuses on the neural representation of sexual satiety in mice. Topics include the genetically hardwired circuits controlling mating behaviors, the role of estrogen receptor 2 (Esr2)-expressing neurons in the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNSTEsr2) in encoding the sexual satiety state and suppressing mating, and the involvement of hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channels in the hyperexcitability of BNSTEsr2 neurons in males. |
