Abstrakt: Welding is a fabrication process used for joining two metals or non-metals by producing coalescence between them. However, welding process is destructive in nature. Therefore, impact of processing parameters on bead characteristics has drawn the interest of researchers around the globe. The complexity in analysis of bead characteristics lies in the fact that there are usually several parameters that interact with one another and therefore it is difficult to determine the dominant factor. The present research work attempts to address this issue through statistical analysis. The research work describes the optimisation of experimental observations made on stainless steel plate through bead-on-plate technique using RSM, an attempt was made to correlate the observed values with the input process variables. It was found that RSM was an effective tool for predicting output values for the corresponding input, which was justified from the residual graphs. In addition, interaction of input variables could also be analysed through this technique, thereby proving the viability of RSM for weld bead analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
