Abstrakt: In order to describe the glassy-like relaxation behavior of relaxor ferroelectrics, we have applied the Bond Strength-Coordination Number Fluctuation (BSCNF) model of structural relaxation developed in our group. Usually, the properties of relaxors are explained by assuming the existence of polar nano-regions (PNRs), i.e., randomly distributed nanodomains having electric dipole moments. It is shown that the VFT-like temperature dependence of the dielectric relaxation resulting from the PNRs can be described by the BSCNF model. In addition, according to a preliminary study performed in Pb1-xLax(ZryTi1-y)1-x/4O3, our model indicates that the interaction strength and its fluctuation between the PNRs decreases and increases, respectively, by the application of an electric field. Possible origin of this unusual behavior is discussed by making connection with other studies on relaxor materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
