The most widely applied method is the cutting fluid in abundance (CFA) to circumvent heat generation and temperature rise in machining. However, cutting fluids, particularly those of mineral base, bring substantial environmental and human health problems as they are toxic. One solution being deeply researched to overcome CFs' is the tool's surface modifications, which, among others, can include coatings and, more recently, texturizations. However, some precautions need to be careful in the coating, one of them, and maybe the most important is adhesiveness. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to evaluate different types of coatings regarding adhesiveness. The input variables were the coating, namely: TiAlN-Futura®, AlCrN-Alcrona®, and AlCrNHelic ®, the methods of surface preparation, blasting, and laser-jetting, and the Rockwell (A) hardness loads (30, 60, and 100 kgf). The output variable was the delamination area measured using CAD software. The main conclusions were that laser surface preparation performed better; TiAlN-Futura® presented the smallest delamination, both for textured blasting and laser-jetting techniques.
