We report the synthesis of water-soluble spherical SeS2 nanoparticles using the stabilizing ability of arabinogalactan from Larix Sibirica as well as the ion-exchange interaction of ammonium sulfide and selenic acid. The average size of the SeS2 nanoparticles in the obtained composites was determined by the synthesis conditions, in particular by the ratio of the Se and S precursor ions to arabinogalactan and varied from 26 to 39 nm for composites containing 2.05–12.0% SeS2, respectively. The pronounced fungistatic activity of the obtained nanoparticles AG–SeS2NPs against the fungal phytopathogen Phytophthora cactorum, which was expressed in inhibition of mycelia growth of this phytopathogen up to 40% during the first four days of their co-incubation, was found. It was shown that the observed fungicidal activity of AG–SeS2NPs is due only to the presence of SeS2 nanoparticles in its composition without any influence of arabinogalactan.
