This article presents a study related to binding of lipid by soluble and membrane proteins isolated from rat liver. Lipid-protein interactions play an important part in biological processes, and considerable interest has been shown recently in many of these lipid-protein systems. Little is known, however, about the formation of both soluble and membrane bound lipoproteins in the body, and the experiments described in this paper were carried out to investigate some of the mechanisms involved in these biosynthetic processes. This part of the investigation deals with a study of the binding of lipid to proteins isolated from rat liver. |
