Abstrakt: AISI 316L austenitic steel is one of the important materials that used in the nuclear power plant due to its high corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. In order to analyze in more deeply and detail of AISI 316L austenitic steel then neutron diffraction technique was done using DN2 neutron texture diffractometer at G.A. Siwabessy research reactor of BATAN Indonesia. The apparatus was set up with the neutron wavelength of 1.2799 Å. AISI 316L austenitic steel sample was in the plate shape which assumed that the rolling plane was in the (hkl) plane. Characterization was carried out at two positions. First, the neutron scattering vector was perpendicular to the rolling plane (hkl). Second, the neutron scattering vector was parallel to the rolling plane (hkl). The results showed that a Goss type texture was formed with an orientation of {110}<001>, where the rotation of φ1=± 35° caused a change in orientation to {110}<1-1 2> or a Brass type.
