B Background/Case Studies: b In November 2017 the Établissement Français du Sang (EFS) and the French military converted the national platelet (PLT) supply to 100% pathogen reduced (PR) PLTs using the INTERCEPT® Blood System for Platelets. Older, lapsed donors (donors who had not donated in at least 2 years) made up most of the increase in total donors in 2020 and 2021, which helped to alleviate the reduction in first-time donors. However, it is not clear how CEC quantity in RBC products is affected by manufacturing methods and donor factors such as donor sex, donor age, pre-donation fingerstick capillary Hb level (pre-donation Hb level), venous blood Hb level (Hb SB V sb level) or frequency of whole blood (WB) donation over last 12 months. Rates were assessed in 3 periods: Period 1, (10/2018-3/2019), donors encouraged to stay in the refreshment area post-donation and consume liquid refreshments and snacks; Period 2, (4/2019-3/2020), additionally, donors encouraged to move muscles in their legs at the end of donation, (applied muscle tension, AMT), and provided with water and a salty snack to consume pre-donation, part of a donor wellness initiative; Period 3, (4/2020-2/2022), pre-donation water and salty snack stopped, AMT continued, donors encouraged to sit in the refreshment area post-donation but provided with refreshments to consume off site.
